“Baby girl, Alonzo, and Aaron are all great strong characters with an intricate story.  Baby Girl comes into her own identity outside of Aaron after he goes to jail.  Her progress from a dependent in love young girl to a woman on her own shows her strength.  With all of Aaron’s troubles in life with his mom and family and growing up way too soon you see that his need to love and be loved is the basis for all he does. Even when being selfish and sending Baby Girl away he’s still trying to do the right thing.  Even in his death he’s keeping his promise to take care of Rachel.  Alonzo is a man with a past even he doesn’t fully know about.  His need for love and success drives him.  Even the side characters Meeka and Chico play bigger roles than you would think in the beginning. Seasons come and go, but we are always IN a season. It is always summer, winter, spring or fall. They change, but there we are. Standing in the middle of one of the seasons. That’s how my depression is. It changes. It comes and goes, but I am always in some form of depression. I have sunrises…and sunsets. Some people call those, “ups and downs”. Everyone around me has to adjust to my weather. My spring and fall are my better times. Winter and summer can be a bitch.

Winter. My hair is dirty. I can smell it but I just can’t manage to wash it. The shower is calling me, but the water somehow hurts me. It’s hard to admit that in “winter” I can go days without so much as washing my face. My body is frozen. Sleep is a must. My brain hibernates. Sleep for hours…days…zombie like…

After a brief hiatus, I returned to my first two books* and decided to continue writing by making a series out of the characters’ personal stories.
