“Baby girl, Alonzo, and Aaron are all great strong characters with an intricate story.  Baby Girl comes into her own identity outside of Aaron after he goes to jail.  Her progress from a dependent in love young girl to a woman on her own shows her strength.  With all of Aaron’s troubles in life with his mom and family and growing up way too soon you see that his need to love and be loved is the basis for all he does. Even when being selfish and sending Baby Girl away he’s still trying to do the right thing.  Even in his death he’s keeping his promise to take care of Rachel.  Alonzo is a man with a past even he doesn’t fully know about.  His need for love and success drives him.  Even the side characters Meeka and Chico play bigger roles than you would think in the beginning. Definitely looking forward to book 2.”
